Teacher Training Program

We offer courses that we build on two aspects: on the one hand we want to broaden contexts and expand content about specific topics taught on K-12 and undergraduate levels. On the other hand, we invite educators to explore new methodologies of teaching with and about primary sources.

Thus all our courses combine mini-lectures, interactive hands-on workshops with primary sources, and workshops on pedagogical methods.

Antisemitism, Responses, ResistanceThe Door Slams Shut: Jews and Immigration in the Face of American Reaction

September 20, 2019 | 9:00am - 1:00pm

offered by American Jewish Historical Society
CTLE credits: 4
Level: Grades 9-12; Undergraduate

This course draws on the collections of antisemitic literature at the American Jewish Historical Society and YIVO, and the organizational records that illustrate diverse responses and resistance to Antisemitism in the US since the late 19th century.

Beyond close reading and visual literacy we will workshop “curatorial” approaches to primary sources and methods of their assessment in classroom.
